Five pointed star pincushion

Have fun with 3D patchwork! Here's how to make a lovely pincushion!

Amusez-vous avec le patchwork en 3D! Voici comment réaliser une jolie pelote à épingles!

Choose three fabrics, one for the top, one for the sides and one for the bottom. Cut 5 squares from each (here 7,5cm / 3" ). Sew all seams starting and stopping at walking foot width, to leave the ends free. Backstitch. Sew top and bottom the same way. On sewing the bottom five squares together, leave an opening to be able to turn the pincushion inside out.

Sew the sides to the bottom in inserting the squares in the "V". Your corner should start going 3D. Sew one square at a time, always leaving the ends free.

Put both parts right sides together and adjust the points. These seams are flat. Do one point after another. When finished, turn the pincushion inside out through the opening. Fill it and close the opening by hand. Pull the center with two buttons.

Make another fun pincushion with 10 hexagons!

Would make great pincushions as well / Feraient de belles pelotes également:

A colorful quilt

I'm having a personal exhibition in October and I plan to put a large colorful quilt at the entrance. I'm making one or two triangles a day... See here about it.

Activity on the blog

As you may know, it takes more time to write a blog post than post something on social media. Resizing the pictures, write a text, add links, etc. needs time and concentration! During busy periods, or while teaching abroad, I sometimes don't have enough time to sit down and write. Just know that I'm active on Instagram, on my Facebook professional page and on Pinterest. Something is usually happening on at least one...

After talking with many, I realize that a lot of people still go every day and click on all the blogs they like, to see if something has been posted. I would highly recommend following your favorite blogs on a blog aggregator. Posts appear automatically on a list whenever they are published. I personally use Feedly and I love it. One can also subscribe to favorite blogs by email. Try something, it's worth it!
